Modern Plumbing & Heating Ltd

Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy

Modern Plumbing & Heating Ltd (MPH) is committed to respecting human rights and opposing slavery, servitude, forced labour and human trafficking. This policy sets out the standards we expect in our business and in the relationships that support our work.

Our business and supply relationships

MPH provides commercial and residential plumbing, heating and mechanical services, including installation, maintenance and aftercare. This policy covers our approach to the people, materials and services involved in delivering that work.

We recognise that exploitation can occur at different levels of a supply chain. Labour arrangements and the sourcing of equipment and materials deserve attention, even where our direct contact is with a UK business.

Standards we expect

Work must be freely chosen. Nobody should be subjected to threats, coercion, trafficking or restrictions that prevent them from leaving employment. Identity documents must not be withheld to control a worker, and recruitment arrangements must not create coercive debt.

We expect lawful pay, clear employment terms, appropriate working hours and safe working conditions. We expect suppliers, subcontractors and labour providers to uphold these principles and address concerns within their own operations.

A proportionate approach to risk

Our approach is to consider labour and sourcing risks when choosing and working with business partners, seek relevant information where concerns arise, and agree appropriate action. Unclear recruitment arrangements, withheld wages or documents, and workers appearing unable to speak freely are reasons for further enquiry.

Concerns should be escalated to MPH management. Any response should prioritise the safety of affected people, consider appropriate specialist support and avoid actions that could expose them to further harm.

Raising a concern

Employees, subcontractors, suppliers and others can raise concerns with MPH management using the contact details below. Reports should be handled sensitively and shared only where necessary to assess or respond to the concern. Nobody should face retaliation for raising a concern in good faith.

Responsibility and review

MPH management is responsible for supporting this policy and reviewing it as the business and its supply relationships develop. Everyone working with MPH is expected to respect these standards and raise concerns when they become aware of them.
